Concerned Citizens -

Glacial Lakes Energy has been concerned for quite some time about the safety of the intersection of South Hwy 81 and 20th Avenue SE, in Watertown, SD.

We have been working with Watertown Mayor Steve Thorson and the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SD DOT) since that meeting to increase the safety of this intersection.  The SD DOT will be meeting on September 26, 2016 in Pierre to vote on the proposed amendment to lower the speed limit on South Highway 81 to the North and South of the intersection from 50 MPH to 35 MPH.  Mayor Thorson and GLE CEO Jim Seurer will be in attendance at this meeting and we will be voicing the concerns of the citizens of Watertown urging the Commission to vote in favor of the amendment.

We need your help!  We are asking you to join us and tell the SD DOT to lower the speed limit at this deadly intersection.  Please complete the enclosed letter to the SD Department of Transportation by signing your name and mail it in the enclosed envelope or drop off at our office during business hours.  Our office is located at 301-20th Avenue SE, Watertown, SD.  We want to submit as many comments as possible no later than September 21, 2016.

GLE will do all we can to increase the safety of the 20th Avenue intersection.  We must ensure the safety of all who travel through this intersection daily and reduced speed does save lives.
